During this time, Seattle Mariners Julio Rodriguez was 2 weeks away from winning the Rookie of the Year. Throwbacks Northwest, a vintage sportswear shop reached out to us. Their challenge: To craft a marketing campaign for a Rookie of the Year shirt in less than a week – minus Julio Rodriguez.
In the absence of direct involvement by Julio Rodriguez, a collaborative effort took shape. We compiled available footage of Julio's first year and edited it into a highlight reel while using an original track for this project by local artist Travis Thompson. As an ode to community and giving back, a portion of the shirt proceeds was donated to the Dominican Association of Washington State.
